My name is Krystal M. Harris, I am a filmmaker and writer/author who needed a BREAK! I had been working non-stop on prepping for my scripted project, SIX TRIPLE EIGHT, and I had just recently opened the publishing division of my company Krystal Muse Incorporated and was preparing for the debut of my new children’s book Magellan the Magical: Or How Dreams Become Real, when I realized I was going to burn out if I didn’t change my scenery.
In a business like mine, you can’t ever really turn off work. But you can change where you work… or in my case, take your work on the road. So the plan was set to take the Magellan the Magical abroad and location scout for Six Triple Eight.
Our locations of interest: London, Scotland, Italy, and France.
It was a huge undertaking, one that I could not have done alone. So I searched for help and came across Kate and her company, MultiCityTrips.
It was the best decision for me and my company. Not only was it affordable to plan the trip with MultiCityTrips, but it was fully customizable with extra perks like video meetings to plan the itinerary, an itinerary app to follow along while I was overseas, and my favorite: daily check-ins and in-state support no matter where we were in the world.
Kate planned the perfect trip for my company’s needs. Being a mom, I couldn’t be away from my daughter for that long so I brought her with me and Kate was able to arrange requested activities for my company, as well as giving my daughter age-appropriate and memorable excursions. Though I had assistance for times where I had to go out and work, my daughter was never bored as there was always something available on our itinerary to see. My daughter was also turning six during the trip’s time frame so Kate was able to arrange a beautiful birthday tea party for her.
I also decided that if we are celebrating so much… the launch of the publishing company, Six Triple Eight moving forward, my daughter’s birthday… might as well add one more celebration to the mix… My mother’s retirement. So we packed our bags and set off on the adventure of a lifetime.
We were gone for a month and visited four countries and eight cities. I was able to location scout in places like Paris, France London, England, and Inverness, Scotland. While also promoting the book in Edinburgh, Scotland, Naples, Rome, and Florence Italy.
We even had some downtime to take advantage of various tours that had us discovering the Isle of Sky (a beautiful filming location that you may see on one of my projects very soon) and the filming locations of Downton Abbey… a truly magnificent excursion that I highly recommend to any fans of Downton Abbey.
The trip was not without interruptions though, from missing flights to taxi strikes… we went through it. However, Kate and MultiCityTrips was there with us helping to solve any issue that we ran into.
Overall, I am glad I took that break from the mundane home office and took my work on the road. From the tours to the activities to the hotels to the food recommendations you really are in great hands with Kate and MultiCityTrips!
This experience could have been extremely stressful but due to the efforts and planning by MultiCityTrips I was able to not only get work done and make huge progress on my projects but more importantly, I was able to enjoy valuable time abroad doing what I love most with the people I love most in the world.
