Our Travel Story & Testimonials

My wife and I have enjoyed traveling to Europe over the past 20 years. We have always enjoyed going to the places slightly off the beaten path. Especially in Central or Eastern Europe. We have developed an appreciation for their varied history and culture and approach to day-to-day life.

Due to recent change in work status, we have more time in our lives. We decided to take a month of travel in Europe. In the past, I always researched and planned and executed all of the arrangements such as flights, hotels places to visit, etc. I read articles, watched YouTube videos spoke to other travelers. Given the extra length of time we had, as well as living in the era of COVID I felt I needed help in navigating this trip.

I randomly watched a travel video on Portugal that really hit upon all our interests. It was created by MultiCityTrips. Whereas I have never used a travel company before I decided to call them. I received a very prompt response from Kate, a Portuguese travel specialist from MultiCityTrips. She calmly and professionally helped organize my thoughts and ideas about this trip.

I cannot emphasize enough how much time and effort and stress she was able to alleviate from our shoulders. From handling airline cancellations and flight changes to setting up special interests such as cooking classes and photography tours. They were even able to set up Covid testing in our hotel room prior to our return flight. They can structure as much or as little of the trip as you need. This was not a generic “bus tour”. We did everything on own on our own timeline but with their excellent Travel App and daily texts it kept us organized and efficient. There were very few “bumps in the road” but Kate was always available and smoothed them out amazingly well. She was even able to negotiate refunds on non-refundable occurrences! They have your back the whole trip. The benefits we received from using their expertise far outweighed the fee involved, I will use them for all of my future travel.

Our Travel Experience in Portugal

The month we spent in Portugal will always be highlight of our lives. Lisbon is a busy multicultural world class city. Porto is older and smaller and super charming. It is a photographer’s paradise. Portugal is safe, and combines new and old world charm extremely well. The best thing about Portugal were the Portuguese! From the cab driver that met us at the airport to the people we met on the street or in our travels. They were genuinely kind and helpful and accepting. Taxis,Ubers and trains are clean and efficient for the cities.

We rented a car after Porto and road tripped through the rest of the countryside from north to south. The country is small geographically, but varies culturally in all it’s different regions. Driving was not difficult but there are tons of roundabouts to get used to. The food and wine is legendary. Spectacular meals and a bottle of wonderful local wine for about $30.00. Prices are rising there as it is in the rest of the world but it is still quite affordable. A month stay at a condo somewhere in Florida would have cost us 2-3 times as much as this trip did. We loved the throwback in time of Rio de Onor all the way to the cliffs and crashing waves of the Algarve.

I could go on and on, but I hope our enthusiasm for Portugal with the assistance of MultiCityTrips motivates other serious travelers to experience highlights in their lives as well.
